Historical Significance
The home of this Celtic clan that is descendants of Dugall, the eldest son of Somerled of the Isles, is Lorn. They were called the Lords of Lorn, and they were opposed to Robert the Bruce. MacDougall chief was taken captive later. His son, John, had fled to England and was made Admiral of the English fleet. The clan lands were lost, but afterwards were recovered by Stewart.
