This pattern of tartan is in the style of the Wilson clan, a Scottish clan, which can be traced back to the 12th century. The name of the tartan of Wilson used was initially referred to as the Janet Wilson sett, in reference to the spouse of the founder of the Wilson company. It is a tartan of a name of great frequency in Scotland, with its origin both in the Lowlands and in the Highlands, most of the Wilsons in ancient times were members of the great Scottish clans, especially in areas such as Ayrshire and Lanarkshire.
