Watson is a Sept of Clan Forbes and Clan Buchanan though is most often called Clan Buchanan. Watson, which literally means the son of Walter, was originally referred to in Edinburgh in 1392. Watson is a personal name or surname based on the Old German term "Walter" translated as mighty warrior and meaning literally, son of Walter. This clan was reputed to be loyal, courageous, and skilled in battle and its representatives occupied some of the first place in the Scottish society.
