Thompson Dress Blue Tartan Kilt
Clan Thomson whose motto is Truth Will Prevail, originated in a few areas in Scotland, the most important being its association to Clan MacThomas of Perthshire. Based on Gaelic words which mean son of Thomas, the Thomson line has some variations such as MacTavish and MacThomas, and immediate relationships with other clans such as Campbell and MacFarlane. There are historic accounts of some of the first Thomsons, in Ayrshire, who encouraged men such as William Wallace and Robert the Bruce even being involved in the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314. Having been noted as pro-Stuart supporters, the clan suffered under the Cromwellian occupation, and later conflicts, and in a move to assimilate with Lowland society, most of the Thomsons moved and changed their name.
The Thomson Blue Tartan is made of blue, black and white and has red and yellow lines running both horizontal and vertical. The pattern is a sophisticated blend of these colors, creating a stylish and elegant look.
