The Montgomery clan is among the oldest and the most notable clan of Scotland which has its origins in the name of a Norman knight Roger de Montgomerie who arrived in Scotland in the 12th century. The Montgomerys settled in Renfrewshire forming their stronghold, Eaglesham. The Montgomerys are known to have been the leaders in battlefield and had a great influence in the Scottish history and have been the key players in several historical events such as the Wars of Scottish Independence.
