MacInnes Red Weathered Tartan Kilt
MacInnes Red Weathered Heavyweight Tartan is a very rich red weighted heavy tartan with warm shades of brown and grey, representing the muted colours of the old weathered palette. The origin of the name MacInnes is Gaelic (Aonghais) and the clan has been attributed to a common ancestry with MacGillivray. One of their chiefs was murdered in 1390 and the blood feud that ensued resulted in their clan being split up, with some going to live under the protection of the powerful Clan Campbell and others becoming skillful bowmen in the employ of the MacKinnons of Skye. The fighting spirit of the clan lasted into the 18th century and a few MacInnes men joined the Jacobite uprising under Stewart of Ardsheal in the 1745 Rising.
