MacGillivray Hunting Ancient Tartan Kilt
MacGillivray Hunting Ancient Heavyweight Tartan has a beautiful brown base color with bright tones of turquoise and blue, reminiscent of the rugged Highland terrain to which this clan is closely linked. A proud member of the Clan Chattan confederation, three MacGillivray chieftains set their names to the historic Clan Chattan Bond of Union in 1609, cementing their place within one of Scotland's most powerful alliances. The Chief of the clan, a formidable leader known as the 'Red Alasdair of the Cattle' fought bravely in the battle of Culloden, in 1745, along with his clan, and died fighting by a spring, which to this day is called ‘MacGillivray's Well' and is a poignant reminder of his sacrifice. The great tradition and proud heritage of the clan is unabated today, and the Chiefship is in the hands of MacGillivray of Dunmaglass, although the clan is now landless.
