MacArthur is one of the oldest clans in Argyll, being one of the senior members of the Clan Campbell. Their chief died heirless in the late 18th century and for more than 230 years the clan lacked a leader — until 2002 when James MacArthur was appointed clan chief, proudly bringing one of Scotland's more historic clans back into the fold.
