Gordon Blue Tartan Kilt
Gordon Blue Modern is a vibrant blue coloured tartan, adorned with the yellow and red overcheck. 100% Acrylic Wool this tartan can be used for accessories, upholstery and craft projects
First recorded in Berwickshire in the 12th century, the Clan Gordon have, since the 14th century, been associated with Aberdeenshire. Sir Adam (Lord of Gordon) was given the Lordship of Strathbogie by King Robert the Bruce for services in battle. They were a strong clan, they fought other clans and the chief of this clan was known as "The Cock of the North". The Marquis of Huntly, who was governor of Inverness Castle, and his deputy in 1562, denied entry to Mary Queen of Scots to that castle. The Gordon Highlanders were raised in 1794 and Jane, Duchess of Gordon, who helped to recruit the men, is said to have kissed each man as he enlisted. The chief's home is Aboyne Castle, Aberdeenshire.
