Farquharson Ancient Tartan Kilt
The Farquharson tartan was registered by James M Coutts in 1946 and is representative of the long history of Scotland's respected Clan Farquharson dating back to the 18th century. This intricately woven design is a testament to the long-standing tradition of tartan-making, with threads bearing witness to the clan's proud history. A specimen from the Highland Society of London Collection is signed by Farquharson of Finzean, and four pieces dating from 1774 were exhibited at the Highland Exhibition in Inverness in 1930.
It is linked to Black Watch and the original layout of overchecks suggest an even earlier origin perhaps prior to 1800. This tartan is a symbol of honor and prestige in Scottish textile history, and its design is a reminder of the long and proud history of the clan and their role in the rich cultural heritage of Scotland.
