Family Maxwell Hunting Tartan Kilt
Family Maxwell Tartan Kilt
The Maxwell Clan was named after a topography bearing the name of Maccus Well, a pool somewhere between the River Tweed. Gradually this name changed to Maxwell, with the family becoming directly connected to the place where they started their story. In the history of Scotland, one of the most known clans was the clan making it very loyal particularly to the House of Stewart. It is the story of the 5th Earl of Maxwell who was taken prisoner and condemned to die in Tower of London, among the most memorable stories. His wife saved him in a very amazing show of courage turning the tale of the clan into one of devotion and daring which continues to be the legacy of the clan.
The Maxwells are today an armigerous clan, i.e., they lack a formal chief at the present. Notwithstanding this, they still do not lose touch of themselves having their motto, Reviresco, meaning I grow strong again. This adage depicts the longstanding strength of the clan, and its capacity to emerge despite adversities. There are also a few other connected surnames like Adair, Pollock and Sturgeon which are parts of the larger Maxwell family.
Color Scheme and Pattern
The Maxwell Hunting Tartan is both a tradition and practical. It is very deep and earthy with a mix of greens, blues and black in a pattern which is modest and appealing to the eye. It was originally intended to be used outside and the darker colors made it blend with natural surroundings, so it was ideal in hunting and travelling through the rugged terrain in Scotland. The tartan is not only used practically but it is also an emblem of the alignment of the clan to the natural world and their history.
