The History of the Cunningham Hunting Tartan

The Cunningham Hunting Tartan has one of the most compelling and enigmatic histories of any of the Scottish clan tartans, and is one that remains a subject of debate, confusion and research to this very day and continues to interest both the tartan historians and the Cunningham clan.

Although there are similarities between the two designs, the exact relationship between the Cunningham Hunting Tartan and the McNicol Hunting design is an open question and one that continues to be discussed and researched by those interested in Scottish tartan scholarship – that is one of the really open questions on the issue of clan tartan documentation.
