Cornish National Tartan Kilt

Cornish Tartan is a distinctive and vibrant tartan that relates to the people of Cornwall, a historic county on the southwest end of England. Cornish Tartan was also transformed in 1984 to give an alternative to the bright and loud Cornish National Tartan, which was originally designed by E.E. Morton-Nance. This new design was spearheaded by Cornovi Creations of Cornwall but it was not only unique to the Scots as it shared a common Celtic heritage. The design of the tartan has been made using the colors of the Cornish flag, which has a white cross on a black background with gold lions in every quarter. With evidence of habitation dating back to the Neolithic era, Cornwall has a rich history and culture. Local weaver Alec Walker initially designed the tartan in 1960s to promote and celebrate Cornish identity.

The yellow color prevailing symbolizes the sunshine and the energy of Cornwall, and the black color denotes the power and strength. The purity and unity of the pattern is achieved with the help of the white lines that connect the pattern.
