Campbell of Louden Modern Tartan Kilt

Clan Campbell of Loudoun or Campbell Clan of Loudon is a Scottish clan with its roots in Ayrshire. They were founded in the 13th century, and were famous with the Lordship of Lochow. There were other knights in Scotland and later Earls of Argyll such as Colin Campbell of Lochow knighted in 1280 who were instrumental in the history of Scotland. It is interesting to note that the 9 th Earl was executed in 1685 because of his participation in Monmouth Rebellion. Campbells also played a significant role in the medieval times and were in the support of Robert the Bruce in the Battle of Bannockburn. The name of the clan, which is based on the Gaelic phrase Cam Beul, which means crooked mouth, shows the legend of the clan. The heritage of the clan still reverberates in the Scottish culture.

Color Scheme & Pattern

The Campbell of Loudon Tartan features a dark color scheme, dominated by dark blue, green and black, reflecting the green nature of the scenery in Scotland, the depth of its lakes and the power of its history. The grid design is further highlighted by a bold yellow stripe, which brings about a bright accent and contrast, and by thin white lines, which create a crisp appeal to the complex design. This tartan was made of pure acrylic wool, which made it both durable and comfortable to wear, thus fitting well in classic Scottish attire.
