Aberdeenshire Home Colours

Aberdeenshire Home Colours Tartan is a very community born tartan, commissioned in 2013 as part of Aberdeenshire Council's creative cultural placement programmed. Primary school children in each of Aberdeenshire's six areas selected its seven distinctive colours, representing iconic landscapes, coastlines and historic built environment. This tartan is a true collaborative piece of living heritage, with the designer adding a seventh colour, a personal token of the place where she herself originally grew up; Aberdeenshire.
Each thread recounts the tale of Scotland's northeast: its harsh granite mountains, long sweeping coastlines, old castles, rich farmlands and vast expanses of north country sky. A tartan not made in a studio, but created by children who live in Aberdeenshire.

Care Instructions

Dry clean recommended for best results. Hand wash gently in cold water where needed. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Iron on low heat with a pressing cloth to maintain fabric structure and color vibrancy.
